THE MONKEY
When in Enugu Nigeria, during the New coronavirus period, I got infected by the virus and what's worse, also by Malaria. People never got infected by both can never imagine what's the feeling of being infected by both serious diseases. It was so hard during that period of time, everyday fever, weakness, listless, vomit... At last I couldn't stand it any longer, so the company sent me to a Chinese hospital in Lagos Nigeria. The Chinese doctors gave me some medicines and injections in the process of around one week. I got better and better day after day. After for around three days, I got a little better and could walk around to a wide range. My cell is on the second floor, from the window I could see a not so big yard of the first floor. In the yard, there were several machines like the electricity generator, a temporary tent, the iron gate and a security room beside it with a soldier security guarder with a gun always sitting inside guarding the door. Security in Nigeria is an issue needs to mind. The left side of the yard, outside the iron gate was resident area, and a little further is a main road, I could even hear the honk of the cars on the road. The right side of the yard was a big tree, branches stretched into the yard and almost touching the tent, and beyond the big tree, there was a big valley with so many trees inside, building full of both sides of the valley. To me, the valley is mysterious place for I could see only part of it and wastes dumped along the slope from the other side. Maybe it's because of the lush plants and the wastes, so the valley became untouched places for animals, like birds, lizards Birds, lizard... didn't interest me that much, what interested me more was the chattering. Every afternoon, when the sun was about to set, the chatters would arise from the valley, passing the valley from one side of the valley to the other side and then be gone. I think it's the third day afternoon. I got better, though still weak. I got down to the first floor. I was at the gate when I heard the chattering again. I asked the security what was that. The security guards told me that's the monkeys passing by, and he said the monkeys would sometimes climb into the yard trying to find food. I was interested, and looked to the big tree. That tree was big, branches spreading everywhere, creating a big canopy. Suddenly, I saw a shadow passed, and then another, and another. Oh, the monkeys, I finally saw them, they jumped from one branch to another and finally, the jumped onto the tent through the branch stretching into the yard. Two monkeys got onto the tent, one big and one small. they warily walked to the edge of the tent, getting close to me, as if I may have something for them. Sorry, I don't anything to offer for them, but what a special moment for me, I couldn't let it go, so I took out my phone and snapped the picture.
